One 60-day cruise circling Australia is being halted in the wake of the tragic passing of an elderly lady who was stranded by the ship on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been trekking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the party for a break. The vessel departed without her and went back after some time after the crew realised the passenger was not present.

An extensive search operation found her person the subsequent day.

Officials are examining the incident, alongside law enforcement and the official investigator.

Relatives Reaction

The offspring of the victim said that her relatives was "stunned and saddened that the liner left the island after an organised excursion without my mother".

In her statement, she described her mother as an "energetic octogenarian" who was a affiliate of a hiking organization.

"From the little details we have been told, it looks that there was a lapse of responsibility and common sense," she stated.
