American entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles, California recently having undergone treatment for cancer since 2022, as reported by news outlets.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his family shared in a statement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous well-known programs, like:

  • King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His work in movies encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Beyond the Screen

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

"Pat guided, supported, and advised countless students throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, fellow actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared publicly.

The actor is leaves behind his partner Donna, three children, and his family.
