Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor stands accused of performing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
