Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest action-packed instalment that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for celebrating action and mayhem with the same enthusiasm, all while weaving gripping, socially charged stories. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two visionaries whose work have represented all of those elements.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's popular video game series, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' structure by having a new setting and group of personalities in each season.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we do not know what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady trust and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every instalment is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can evolve from season to season, while always examining the essence of people through this multifaceted and chaotic lens, is a dream come true. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and present our common bold, visionary sensibility to the television.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
