Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev secured his first title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from March of that year.

Success also indicates he has won 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to get a title is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He rescued 4 early chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
