Torrential Rains Exacerbate Situation for Displaced Gazans, UN Caution
Intense rains over the past week have intensified the already dire situation of the vast number of evacuated Palestinians in the territory, according to humanitarian organizations.
"Horrendous" Conditions Poses Serious Dangers
A spokesman described the recent storm as "terrible", with downpours so heavy that as much as 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the ground.
"These conditions was really horrendous for the residents. The storms were so strong... And the gusts were so forceful," noted the official.
Authorities voice grave anxiety that children sheltering in temporary structures in damp garments will succumb to hypothermia and additional sicknesses.
Deaths and Extensive Damage
The health ministry have reported that one baby has died from hypothermia and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in building collapses due to the harsh conditions.
Other reports put a higher number of casualties. Officials reported that multiple residential buildings had collapsed completely and dozens had collapsed partially.

Aid Efforts Seen as Inadequate
Groups have increased shipments of tarpaulins, warm covers and clothes after the halt in hostilities commenced, but they emphasize there is remains not enough aid entering.
"Officials are operating tirelessly to provide that aid and to hand it out, but the size of the needs is so immense that we still have thousands of individuals and minors who are really suffering each evening," stated one official.
Ongoing Challenges and Agreement Provisions
The next stage of the agreement includes plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the pullback of troops, and other terms.
Aid groups have stressed the necessity for "expanded and ongoing aid to address pressing and future needs."
The war was initiated by an assault in late 2023. Subsequent actions have resulted in a significant number of fatalities in the region, as per official reports.
